I finished my high school exams in March 2015, so my dad, along with my sister, who is in sixth grade, and I took a hands-on diving challenge in Puerto Galera!
A two-hour drive from the Manila airport and then an hour boat ride away, we arrived at the Orient Pearl Resort in Puerto Galera.I was a little nervous on the next day’s diving experience, but I relaxed after the gentle advice from the Japanese instructor KEN. We spent the first two hours in the pool to learn how to operate the diving equipment, and then we went to the ocean at noon!
It was a very enjoyable experience to see small fish, coral, and even sea snakes on the 30-minute walk in the ocean.Lunch was Filipino food along the beach. The fish sinigang soup and pork BBQ are tropically flavored in a way you can’t find in Japan. I love Filipino food because it’s not spicy! After diving, we went to explore the cave by boat. Inside a mysterious cave, through an underwater tunnel, to the other side. When snorkeling in the Manila Channel, I give the fish a bun and they bite my fingertips.
In the evening, we arrived at the pier near the hotel by boat. We ended the day with Koto-san’s delicious Japanese food! It was a very enjoyable day. I would like to try English conversation and diving again during the summer vacation.
