mindoro-GCQ

All areas are now covered by the GCQ, effective May 16, with the exception of Manila, Laguna and Cebu.

The community quarantine in Mindoro, where Puerto Galera is located, was announced on May 12 to be a low-risk “Modified GCQ,” but was changed again to a medium-risk “GCQ” by the Philippine government’s announcement on May 14.

Metro Manila, Laguna Province and Cebu City are subject to the Modified ECQ (MGCQ). There is no change to this. However, all but three of these areas have converted to GCQ. Unfortunately, the lockdown continues.

Therefore, from May 16, the area under the low-risk MGCQ will be zero for a while.

The area previously classified as a low-risk Modified GCQ will now be reclassified as a GCQ, They said.😥

I’m not sure, but according to an article in the Philippine News Agency says…

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque explained that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) decided to use GCQ instead of MGCQ since the guidelines on the latter are still being finalized.

It is true that the presentation slides I introduced the other day did not include any items related to the MGCQ, but I got the impression that the reason for the change was rather rough and typical of the Philippines.

There are significant differences in the initially announced area classifications, such as items related to going out and moving around. I’m sure those of people in the area who have been converted to GCQ are disappointed.

We will have to wait for more information as the detailed guidelines for low-risk MGCQ will be released in the future.

The implementation of the stay at home quarantine policy in the Philippines was very early, but the lockdown period will be longer than in Wuhan City in China. We will keep you posted as soon as we know more.
