[May 2022] Summary of procedures required to travel from Japan to the Philippines entry to Puerto Galera!

Hello everyone, it’s been a while!

Starting this February 2022, the Philippines began accepting tourists without visas, as it did before the coronary disaster, for foreigners who are fully vaccinated. Currently, no new cases of infection have been announced in Puerto Galera for a long period of time. Resorts, restaurants and bars that were closed for the duration of the pandemic have reopened. And with more and more new establishments opening, things are really starting to come alive!

There are no strict regulations at Sabang Beach, and divers and other tourists from all over the world return to enjoy diving and other activities.

I’ve been in Japan for five and a half months and just got back to Sabang last month! Compared to the end of October 2021 when I left Puerto Galera, the atmosphere on the beach and the lives of the local people have changed dramatically and I can feel that the pandemic is beginning to subside.

Coming back to Sabang Beach, where the weather was perfect and very relaxing, I realized that I had been under a great deal of stress for two years without even realizing it.

Now, this time, we will guide you about the necessary procedures when you come to Puerto Galera from Japan. You’ll need to follow different procedures than before, so please take a look!

Necessary procedures upon entry into the Philippines

From February this year, tourists from Japan can freely enter the Philippines without visa as before the pandemic. However, please note that different preparations and procedures are required than before.

(1) Passport with at least 6 months remaining validity

(2) A ticket to leave the country (to return home or to a third country) within 30 days from the date of entry.

(3) Proof of completed vaccination

*Vaccine passport, etc., just save it in your phone and you’re good to go!

(4) RT-PCR test within 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. or negative proof of antigen test within 24 hours prior to departure.

You will need this to enter the country, so look for an affordable inspection center.

(5) Overseas travel insurance policy

*Certificate in English indicating that you can cover more than US$35,000 in the event of a new coronavirus infection.

If your insurance policy is attached to a credit card, it is okay if the total amount of coverage on two or more of your cards is more than that amount. However, be sure to ask them to send you a copy of the policy in English by email or mail!

In the case of a policy that is not guaranteed by the combined credit card insurance, there are also insurance policies that increase the amount of coverage, such as Sompo Japan’s “New Overseas Travel Insurance OFF”, so if you are in trouble, please refer to them.

(6)Register for One Health Pass

What is One Health Pass? It is an application to enter the required information when entering the Philippines. You can register online by entering your information from your computer or smartphone.

①Reservation and QR Code

You will need the QR code sent to you by the hotel where you made your reservation. This will be checked for entry into Puerto Galera, Mindoro. At this time, it is not possible to find a hotel once you get there without making a reservation. This QR code will be required when boarding the ferry at Batangas Port and arriving at the various beaches and resorts by private boat.

[Transportation from Manila Airport to Puerto Galera

As of May 2022, public transportation such as buses and ferries have resumed service. However, please note that the number of services is limited and you may not be able to travel on the same day.

The Si-Kat bus (joint bus & ferry ticket) that operates between the Manila-Hermita area and Puerto Galera is back in service. In addition, each resort is ready to arrange and provide private van & speedboat services from Manila airport or the city to the resort. These will get you to your resort in Puerto Galera in about 3 hours from your arrival in the Philippines, very convenient and hassle free!
